Experience Design: UX Research to UI Prototyping

  2. UI/UX for Mobile

    A phone is a different medium, not a narrow desktop. Thumb reach, one-handed use and the fact that people are usually distracted all change what a good screen looks like.

    The first tap decides retention more than anything that follows, so the opening moments get disproportionate attention, and every target is sized for a thumb rather than a cursor.

  4. Wireframing & Prototyping

    A clickable prototype is the cheapest possible version of your product, and the only one you can test before committing engineering time to it.

    It also settles arguments. A stakeholder disagreement about a flow is much shorter when both parties can click through it, and feedback loops with real users replace the approval meeting as the deciding vote.

    Components, tokens and documented patterns, so consistency stops depending on whoever is designing that day. The tenth screen costs less than the third and looks like it belongs.

    Governance is the part usually skipped and the part that decides whether a system survives: who can add a pattern, and what happens when someone needs an exception.

    Dashboards designed around the decision someone is trying to make, not around everything the database happens to hold. Most internal dashboards fail by showing too much.

Why it matters

Every interface is a series of small decisions to leave.

Nobody abandons a product because of one catastrophic flaw. They leave because of an unclear label, a form asking for something they do not have to hand, a step that felt like it needed thinking about. Design is the work of removing those, and you cannot remove what you have not watched someone hit.

A prototype tested with real users costs a fraction of a build. Finding the confusing step before it is written is the cheapest fix available at any stage of a project.
